02 / UNDERSTAND YOUR CARE

What is aesthetic resin?

Treatment that restores small broken or chipped front tooth areas with tooth-colored resin. Check whether form adjustment can be done the same day while minimizing removal.

Only as much as needed for small chips and gaps

For slight chipping at the incisal edge or narrow gaps, resin is layered directly to build shape. If the gap is wide or caused by alignment/occlusion, resin alone may not suffice and other options should be compared.

Compared to laminate

Aesthetic resin is shaped directly in the mouth, while laminate is fabricated separately and bonded. We explain cost, time, reduction amount, color stability, and fracture/discoloration risk. Start with small area improvements.

Color and shape also need checking

Staining at margins from coffee/tea/wine/smoking, or wear/fracture from bruxism or hard foods may occur. Polishing, repair, or re-restoration may be performed as needed.

Limits and precautions to know

After treatment there can be sensitivity, pain, bleeding, gum changes, or need for retreatment. Risks and recovery for each treatment method are individually explained during the consultation.

05 / YOUR QUESTIONS · 4 QUESTIONS

Questions you might have before care.

01How does laminate differ from esthetic resin?
Esthetic resin is built directly in mouth; laminate is fabricated and bonded. For small corrections resin may be tried first; compare reduction amount, color stability, fracture risk and cost.
02How long do the results last?
Depends on range, occlusion, bruxism and maintenance. With wear, discoloration or fracture polishing, repair or re-restoration may be needed.
03Does it discolor?
Over time margins may yellow due to coffee, tea, wine and smoking. If stained polish or refill.
04Really finished in one day?
Small areas often completed same day. But decay, gum or occlusion may require prior treatment and provide usage and dietary precautions per material.
