What is TMJ disorder?

Clicking sound in the jaw, pain, or difficulty opening the mouth may signal temporomandibular disorder. Check joint, muscles, and lifestyle together.

We examine joint and lifestyle together

Bruxism, clenching, stress, chewing on one side, and poor posture may contribute. We distinguish whether there is only sound or also pain and limited opening and perform necessary tests.

From conservative treatments

We select lifestyle modification, physical therapy, medication, splint (occlusal stabilization device), etc., per condition. Not all patients receive a device or occlusal adjustment. Treatment intervals and methods are adjusted according to symptom changes.

Limits and precautions to know

After treatment there can be sensitivity, pain, bleeding, gum changes, or need for retreatment. Risks and recovery for each treatment method are individually explained during the consultation.

05 / YOUR QUESTIONS · 4 QUESTIONS

Questions you might have before care.

01If there’s only noise and no pain, can I leave it alone?
Noise alone does not always require treatment. Check if there is pain, limited mouth opening, or a catching sensation; if symptoms newly appear or worsen, seek care.
02How long is the treatment period?
It varies with the cause, symptom duration, and habits. After conservative treatment we observe the course and adjust methods and visit intervals.
03Do I need to wear the splint all the time?
Wearing time depends on the device type and purpose. Do not wear it arbitrarily; follow instructions and have occlusion and fit checked regularly.
04Do I need orthodontics?
Not all temporomandibular joint symptoms require orthodontics. First conservative treatments are considered, and if indicated we will refer to relevant specialties.
