Denture implants at a glance

What is this treatment?
Treatment that supplements disadvantages of existing dentures using implant support. Place implants where needed and connect dentures to reduce movement; review methods.
What concerns are addressed?
Full-mouth implants are too costly. I hesitate because I was told implants require bone grafts.
What precautions are there?
Postoperative pain, swelling, bleeding, infection, sensory changes, and failure of osseointegration may occur. Bone grafting or sinus surgery carries risks such as graft exposure or mucosal perforation, and varies by individual condition.

01 / YOUR CONCERNS

Do you have these concerns?

Full-mouth implants are too costly.
I hesitate because I was told implants require bone grafts.
I was told alveolar bone is severely resorbed so implants are difficult.
Dentures keep coming loose or wobbling.
Dentures hurt my gums and make chewing difficult.
02 / UNDERSTAND YOUR CARE

What are denture implants?

Treatment that supplements disadvantages of existing dentures using implant support. Place implants where needed and connect dentures to reduce movement; review methods.

Conventional dentures, implant overdentures, and fixed prostheses

Conventional dentures are supported on the gums, implant overdentures use attachment devices to improve retention, and fixed full-arch prostheses are not removable by the patient. We compare chewing function, hygiene, manual ability, and cost together.

First check whether bone grafting can be reduced

If there are positions with relatively preserved bone, using them may reduce number of implants or grafting extent. However this is not possible for everyone with insufficient bone. We check remaining bone and denture form and plan grafting if needed.

Attachments and dentures require regular maintenance

Removable types must be taken out daily for cleaning and implants must be cleaned around as well. Attachments wear and retention can decrease and require replacement. Insurance coverage varies by implant/denture criteria and connection method and is not automatically cumulative.

Limits and precautions to know

Postoperative pain, swelling, bleeding, infection, sensory changes, and failure of osseointegration may occur. Bone grafting or sinus surgery carries risks such as graft exposure or mucosal perforation, and varies by individual condition.

03 / THE GOOD MORNING WAY

How The Good Morning provides care

  1. We review number of implants and need for bone grafting together.
  2. In-house lab fabricates and adjusts denture form and occlusion.
  3. We explain differences in care between fixed and removable types.
04 / STEP BY STEP

From diagnosis to aftercare: the treatment course.

  1. 01Assess remaining bone volume, implant positions, and denture design
  2. 02Implant placement
  3. 03Confirm osseointegration and advise on provisional denture use
  4. 04Connect final denture, occlusion adjustment, and maintenance training

Actual sequence and number of visits are adjusted according to test results and recovery.

05 / YOUR QUESTIONS · 11 QUESTIONS

Questions you might have before care.

01How much cheaper than full implants?
Fewer implants mean significantly less cost, but final cost varies by implant count, denture type and grafting; provide written estimate after diagnosis.
02Is bone graft always necessary?
Implant-supported dentures place minimal implants in areas with relatively preserved bone so often possible without bone grafting. Confirm remaining bone with 3D CT.
03What’s good about not doing bone graft?
Shorter treatment period and reduced surgical burden and cost. Bone graft requires months of healing time.
04If jawbone is almost gone, is it possible?
Check if remaining bone can be used; severe bone loss may require graft or other alternatives. Not suitable for everyone.
05How is it different from regular dentures?
Fixation method differs. Conventional dentures rely mainly on gum support; implant dentures use attachments to improve retention. Movement may not be completely eliminated and adjustment is needed as devices wear and gums change.
06How differs from full fixed implants?
Full fixed prosthesis connects implants at required positions; implant overdenture usually connects removable denture with attachments. Implant count varies by bone and design; compare cost, maintenance and function.
07Should I remove to clean, or sleep with it in?
Mostly removable for cleaning. Remove daily to clean and brush implant-exposed areas with a soft brush. Fixed options exist for those with limited hand use; discuss at consultation.
08Can I use my existing denture as is?
Depends on condition. Bring your denture for evaluation.
09Is it covered by insurance?
Insurance coverage depends on age, oral condition, treatment purpose and current item criteria. After diagnosis, get a breakdown of covered and non-covered items. Check costs of treatments and sedation separately.
10How many implants will be placed?
Lower jaw typically 2–4 implants; upper jaw often needs 4 or more due to softer bone and sinus. Design to achieve stable retention with minimum implants based on jawbone and denture form.
11How long until completion?
Months for osseointegration and denture fabrication/adjustment. Depends on grafting and healing speed; usage of temporary denture explained individually.
