What is caries treatment?
Cavity treatment varies by depth and extent. Detect before damage progresses and plan to preserve natural tooth as much as possible.
If the outside looks fine but the inside is decayed
Decay can spread widely under a small surface hole and interproximal caries may not be visible externally. We verify the extent by oral exam and necessary radiographs rather than by color or pain alone.
From resin to root canal, matched to the damage
Small cavities are filled directly with resin; if extensive, inlay/onlay or crown is considered. If the pulp is infected, root canal treatment may be necessary. Early lesions without a hole may be managed and observed if appropriate.
Limits and precautions to know
After treatment there can be sensitivity, pain, bleeding, gum changes, or need for retreatment. Risks and recovery for each treatment method are individually explained during the consultation.
