02 / UNDERSTAND YOUR CARE

What is bruxism and clenching?

Teeth can wear down and burden the temporomandibular joint and muscles without you knowing. Check not only night grinding but daytime teeth clenching habits.

Tooth wear, sensitivity, prosthesis fracture

Worn tooth surfaces cause sensitivity; repeated strong forces can damage crowns, laminates, and implant prostheses. Morning jaw stiffness and reported grinding sounds help diagnosis.

Night guards are protective devices

If needed, we make individualized devices to distribute forces and reduce damage. A device does not necessarily eliminate bruxism itself. Wear and occlusion are checked regularly.

We also look at awake habits

Check whether you habitually hold teeth together during the day and relax jaw force. We consider stress, caffeine, sleep quality, and if snoring or sleep apnea is suspected, we may recommend related evaluation.

Limits and precautions to know

After treatment there can be sensitivity, pain, bleeding, gum changes, or need for retreatment. Risks and recovery for each treatment method are individually explained during the consultation.

05 / YOUR QUESTIONS · 4 QUESTIONS

Questions you might have before care.

01How can I tell if I grind my teeth?
Most people do not know themselves. Morning jaw stiffness, sensitivity of molars, or flattened chewing surfaces suggest it. Family members often notice and tell patients about nighttime noise.
02Is clenching as problematic as grinding?
Even without noise, repetitive strong forces can cause tooth wear and jaw muscle pain. Daytime unconscious clenching habits should also be examined.
03Does grinding make my teeth sensitive?
It can. If enamel is worn and inner dentin is exposed, cold sensitivity can occur. Cervical (neck) defects of teeth are also common.
04If I grind my teeth, do prostheses break often?
It is one cause of breakage or loss. Crowns, laminates, and implant prostheses can all be affected, so grinding is considered when planning treatment.
