02 / UNDERSTAND YOUR CARE

What is wisdom tooth extraction?

Impacted or nerve-adjacent wisdom teeth require checking their position and surrounding structures to decide extraction necessity and method.

Not all wisdom teeth must be removed

If properly erupted and cleansable, observation may be chosen. We decide extraction considering impaction type, recurrent inflammation, and caries or damage risk to preceding molars.

Wisdom tooth near a nerve

We use necessary imaging to check relationship with the inferior alveolar nerve canal and root. We explain risks like sensory change after extraction; if in-clinic treatment is difficult or risk is high we refer to a higher-level institution.

When removing multiple teeth plan for recovery

Number to remove at once and sedation need are decided based on systemic status, surgical difficulty, and ability to eat during recovery. Follow post-extraction instructions for bleeding control, diet, oral hygiene, and smoking cessation; contact the clinic for persistent bleeding or worsening swelling/pain.

Limits and precautions to know

After treatment there can be sensitivity, pain, bleeding, gum changes, or need for retreatment. Risks and recovery for each treatment method are individually explained during the consultation.

How The Good Morning provides care

  1. Check relationship between the nerve canal and wisdom tooth root in advance.
  2. Evaluate conscious sedation need along with systemic condition.
  3. If high risk, we refer to a higher-level institution.
04 / STEP BY STEP

From diagnosis to aftercare: the treatment course.

  1. 01Examination and required imaging
  2. 02Extraction plan and anesthesia method decision
  3. 03Extraction

05 / YOUR QUESTIONS · 5 QUESTIONS

Questions you might have before care.

01Do wisdom teeth always have to be removed?
Not all must be removed. If they erupt straight, occlude well, and can be cleaned, they may be left. However, if they are impacted sideways or partially covered by gum, they can push adjacent molars and trap food, causing decay and gum inflammation, and extraction is recommended.
02Can all four be removed at once?
We decide based on difficulty, overall health, and whether the patient can eat during recovery. Multiple extractions in one session may be possible, but staging the procedures can be more appropriate. Sedation requires a separate suitability assessment.
03If it’s close to the nerve, do I have to go to a university hospital?
Not necessarily. With 3D CT to check the course of the inferior alveolar nerve canal and the root relationship in advance, many cases can be managed in-house. A periodontist performs the extraction, and if the risk is judged high, we will refer you to a higher-level medical institution.
04Can it be removed under sleep?
Conscious sedation may help but is not suitable for everyone. Decide after evaluating systemic condition, medications, airway risk and treatment scope; refer to higher-level institutions if needed.
05How much does it swell?
If the impaction is deep or the roots are curved and the gum must be opened, swelling is greater. Usually swelling peaks on days 2–3 and subsides within a week. Cold packs are helpful for the first two days, then warm compresses afterward.
